The Luminaries Program

The Luminaries Program is the first ever transformative initiative in the United States, solely dedicated to supporting men transitioning into the community after incarceration, for a violent offense. It is held once a month in person for five months from January to May in San Antonio, Texas. This is open to parents, guardians, and grandparents. There will be dinner provided at every session, so please come hungry. If you have any food allergies, please list them below in the designated section. This program is from 4:00 - 7:00PM and primarily held on one Wednesday of the month. So, we will only be meeting five times and once for graduation.

You will know if you are selected for this program by the beginning of January.

After completing the Program, your children/ grandchildren (ages 8-12) will automatically be eligible to attend our FREE three day/two-night faith-based summer camp.

Camp Little Luminaries

Camp Little Luminaries is the first ever faith-based camp in the country, dedicated to serving children ages 8 - 12. This camp is exclusively for kids, whose parent has completed The Luminaries program. This camp is FREE of charge. Welcome to an unforgettable adventure with Steadfast Sparrows Corporation! We're thrilled to introduce kids to the amazing world of dinosaurs, all while learning about fire safety, water safety and wilderness skills at Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas. Imagine camping under the stars, just steps away from real dinosaur tracks! Join us for an exciting weekend from Friday to Sunday on the third weekend in June, where fun and learning come together to inspire independence and confidence in every child! Only Two children per Luminaries applicant will be allowed. One form per child. Applications will be available from December 29th - January 13th.Please fill out the form below in its entirety, as every portion is important. Safety is our number one priority, and all information will be kept safe 100%.

Camp Worth it!

Camp Worth It, the very first faith-based camp in the country just for kids ages 8-12! We're thrilled to offer a safe and uplifting space for children. To qualify:

Children must be on the TARE website awaiting adoption.
Children who are living in fictive kinship situations with the goal to be adopted by them. (There must be documentation in place and have been living in care with the caregiver for at least 6 months, since documentation was signed.

At Camp Worth It, we wholeheartedly believe that every child deserves a chance to shine, and guess what? It’s all FREE! Get ready for an unforgettable adventure filled with fun, friendships, and faith!

Nevetta K. King holds the position of President and Co-Treasurer at Steadfast Sparrows Corporation, where she also functions as a Grant Research Analyst. Additionally, she is a Licensed Pastoral Counselor and operates her own practice, Expanded Roots Counseling, based in San Antonio, TX, while also providing virtual counseling services globally. Her multifaceted expertise enriches both the organization and her clients, allowing her to deliver valuable insights and support.

Expanded Roots Counseling envisions aiding individuals on their path to wholeness and balance. We assist in identifying temperaments through various resources, empowering them to address root-level issues, apply gained knowledge to daily life, and become balanced, productive members of their communities.
